💧 Why Does My Aircon Drip After a Chemical Wash?

A chemical wash is meant to improve cooling and remove dirt inside your aircon.

But sometimes, homeowners notice water dripping from the unit after servicing.

This does not always mean something is wrong with the wash itself. In many cases, the dripping is caused by small issues that appear once the system starts running again.

Here are the most common reasons.

1. Residual Water Inside the Unit

During a chemical wash, technicians flush the internal components with water.

Even after draining, some water may remain inside the drain tray or insulation areas.

When the aircon starts running again, this water may slowly drip out.

This usually stops after a few hours of operation.

2. Dirt Dislodged During Cleaning

Chemical washing removes deep dirt from the coil and blower.

Sometimes, loosened dirt moves into the drainage system.

This can partially block the drain pipe and cause water to accumulate and drip.

A quick drain check normally resolves the issue.

3. Condensation From Colder Coils

After cleaning, the evaporator coil becomes more efficient.

This can cause stronger condensation, especially in Singapore’s humid climate.

If insulation around the pipes or drain tray is weak, condensation may appear as dripping.

4. Drainage Alignment Issues

During servicing, the unit cover is removed and reinstalled.

If the drain tray or piping angle is slightly off, water may not flow smoothly to the drain pipe.

This can result in temporary dripping.

How Sky Blue Aircon Prevents Post-Wash Dripping

At Sky Blue Aircon Engineering Pte Ltd, we take extra steps after chemical cleaning to ensure the system drains properly.

Our servicing includes:

  • Drainage flushing

  • Drain pipe flow checks

  • Proper reassembly and alignment

  • Post-service system testing

This helps reduce the chances of water leakage after cleaning.

💡 The Bottom Line

A small amount of dripping after a chemical wash can happen. However, continuous leaking is not normal and should be checked.

Proper servicing ensures your system stays clean while maintaining correct drainage.
