Why Is My Aircon Not Cold?

If your aircon is blowing warm air or not cooling as expected, something is wrong. This is one of the most common issues we handle in Singapore.

Common Reasons Your Aircon Is Not Cold

1. Dirty Filters or Coils
Dust and dirt block airflow and stop the cooling process. This usually happens when servicing is delayed. Cleaning the filters and coils often solves the problem.

2. Low Refrigerant Gas
If your gas level is low, your aircon cannot cool the air. This can be caused by leaks or long-term usage without a gas top-up. Common gas types in Singapore include R32, R410A, and older R22 systems.

3. Faulty Compressor
The compressor is the heart of your aircon. If it’s weak or faulty, the unit won’t cool. You’ll need a technician to check the compressor’s suction and discharge pressure.

4. Thermostat Issues
Sometimes the room feels hot because the thermostat setting is wrong or the sensor is faulty. The unit may be turning off too early or not detecting the actual room temperature.

5. Clogged Drainage or Ice Buildup
If the drainage pipe is blocked, water builds up and may cause parts to freeze. A frozen coil cannot absorb heat properly. This leads to poor or no cooling.

6. Wrong Mode or Fan Speed
Make sure your aircon is set to Cool Mode and the fan speed is not too low. It’s a simple check but often overlooked.
