What to Do Before Your Aircon Technician Arrives: Singapore Homeowners’ Checklist

Updated: May 28

If you’ve booked aircon servicing with Sky Blue Aircon Engineering Pte Ltd, there are a few simple steps you can take to prepare your space. This saves time, reduces mess, and helps the technician finish the job efficiently. Here’s what to do before aircon cleaning or repair begins.

1. Clear the Area Around the Aircon Units

Move furniture, baby cots, or shelves away from the indoor unit. Technicians need space to set up ladders and tools. For outdoor units, make sure the area is not blocked by laundry racks or potted plants.

Why this matters: Clutter slows down the servicing and increases the risk of damage to your things.

2. Secure Outdoor Access (If Needed)

If your condenser unit is outside or at a ledge, make sure the technician can access it safely. Let your building’s management know if approval is needed for access.

3. Let Someone Be Home

If you’re not around, have a family member or helper on-site. They can give access, answer questions, and check the work after it's done.

4. Turn Off the Aircon

Switch off the unit at least 10 minutes before the technician arrives. This lets the system cool down for safer servicing.

5. Keep Pets and Kids Away

Servicing involves tools, ladders, and sometimes chemicals. Keep children and pets in another room for their safety.

6. Take Note of Any Issues

If your aircon has been leaking, smelling, or not cooling properly, write it down. Mention this when the technician arrives so they can inspect those issues first.

FAQ

Q1: Do I need to be at home during servicing?

Yes. If not, someone else should be there to provide access and check the work.

Q2: Should I clean the room before the technician comes?

No need to deep clean, but clearing the area near the aircon helps a lot.

Q3: Can I use the aircon right after servicing?

Yes. But for chemical cleaning, wait 30–60 minutes for everything to dry.

Q4: What if I forgot to prepare the space?

We can still proceed, but it may take longer or require adjustments.

Q5: Is this checklist for all types of servicing?

Yes. It applies whether it’s basic servicing, gas top-up, or chemical cleaning.
